ARACHNE ISP Help There were over 150 "FREE" Internet Service Providers in existence in the UK at the time of writing in July 1999. The largest of these is FREESERVE. Arachne can access FREESERVE for web browsing and e-mail, ftp and all the normal functions, however, ARACHNE does not support SSL (the Internet Security System) which is needed to sign-up with the service. Either you will have to "borrow" a machine from a friend, or find a FREESERVE user who will let you use his machine to perform an on-line sign-up. You could also load their "freeserve" free CD into a W95/98 machine and sign-up using the SSL facility. Once you've signed up, ARACHNE will access fine, and won't damage your wallet because this SSL technology is the same used to purchase goods over the net. Since ARACHNE doesn't support it, then you can't spend money on your credit card!

	Another free service if you want e-mail (both pop3 and webmail) and browse, plus some webspace, is ecosse.net. They can be signed up on-line using Arachne, no SSL involved. Their DNS numbers etc are available on-line also at their website, at www.ecosse.net
